Crowdfunding campaign launched for Bude area
‘Social Action Fund’.

  • Two local organisations have partnered to set-up a Social Action Fund for the wider Bude area. Bude Coastal Community Team and the Neetside Community Centre have come together to establish the Fund which it is hoped, in January, will make grants to local not-for-profit organisations addressing the indirect impacts of the Coronavirus. This might be organisations helping people with food or fuel poverty, mental health, loneliness or isolation.

  • To help raise money towards the Fund, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched. Neetside Community Centre Trustee Jackie Thorpe said:

Coronavirus has affected us all. Its indirect impacts on livelihoods, mental health and communities have been considerable and will be felt for months to come. We wanted to ensure that support for organisations helping those indirectly affected continued in the new year”.

  • All the money raised for the Social Action Fund through the crowdfunding campaign will be distributed in grants to organisations large or small based in, or working in, the wider Bude area – including the parishes of Bude-Stratton, Jacobstow, Kilkhampton, Launcells, Marhamchurch, Morwenstow, North Tamerton, Poundstock, St Gennys, Week St Mary and Whitstone. Details of how organisations can apply for a grant from the Social Action Fund will be made available in January 2021.

  • Ian Saltern of Bude Coastal Community Team said

We are asking people to please donate towards the Social Action Fund through Crowdfunder. Every penny we raise will be redistributed in grants to organisations making a real difference to people's lives in these most difficult of times. The Bude area is at its best when it pulls together - one and all - to help out”.
